CBH Newdegate Grain Storage Facility

Two dump trucks and a road roller paving asphalt on a remote highway near dry hills and railway tracks.

PROJECT CHALLENGE

The construction of the new CBH grain storage facility at Newdegate faced significant programme pressures following unusually high regional rainfall, which delayed site access and pushed the project commencement several months beyond the original schedule. With the grain harvest season rapidly approaching, the facility needed to be operational within a compressed construction window. Delivering a substantial asphalt pavement package under these constraints required rapid mobilisation, increased production capacity and careful coordination between project stakeholders to ensure all programme, quality and operational requirements could still be achieved.

  • Delayed site access due to prolonged rainfall across the region
  • Compressed construction programme ahead of grain harvest season
  • Delivering 10,000 tonnes of asphalt within a shortened timeframe
  • Maintaining production efficiency despite delayed project commencement
  • Meeting strict quality and specification requirements under accelerated delivery conditions

PROJECT SOLUTION

Drawing on the experience and capability now represented within the Roadform team, the project was successfully delivered within the revised programme despite significant early delays. To accelerate delivery and recover lost time, an additional asphalt plant was mobilised to Newdegate, substantially increasing production capacity and allowing works to progress at the required pace. Through proactive planning, resource scaling and close collaboration with the client and head contractor, all project milestones were achieved while maintaining compliance with quality and specification requirements. The completed works supported the successful commissioning of the facility ahead of the critical grain receival period.

  • 10,000 tonnes of asphalt supplied and installed
  • Additional asphalt plant mobilised to increase production capacity
  • Construction programme successfully recovered following weather delays
  • Delivered in accordance with all specification and quality requirements
  • Facility completed in time to support seasonal grain operations
