Floodway reinstatement on Yandi Access Road

Two dump trucks and a road roller paving asphalt on a remote highway near dry hills and railway tracks.

PROJECT CHALLENGE

A significant flood event caused extensive damage to the Iowa Creek Floodway on Yandi Access Road, a critical haul route for BHP's Yandi operations. The principal designated the works as high priority, with minimal lead time available before construction commenced.
  • Significant structural damage to upstream sections of 8 x 1200mm diameter corrugated steel pipes
  • Floodway rock armour displaced and undermined across multiple sections.
  • Extensive pavement damage across the floodway corridor
  • High-priority designation requiring immediate contractor mobilisation

PROJECT SOLUTION

Roadform mobilised immediately to reinstate the floodway to its original design standard, restoring full operational access within the principal's required timeframe.

  • Replacement of upstream corrugated steel pipe sections across 8 x 1200mm diameter culverts
  • Full reinstatement of rock armour protection to the floodway
  • Subgrade preparation, base course, and spray-seal surfacing throughout.
