Upgrading and expanding the Knox Gorge carpark in Karijini National Park

Two dump trucks and a road roller paving asphalt on a remote highway near dry hills and railway tracks.

PROJECT CHALLENGE

The Knox Gorge Carpark required significant expansion to meet growing visitor demand. Works were undertaken within Karijini National Park, a nationally significant protected area, with strict environmental management protocols observed throughout construction.
  • The existing unsealed carpark no longer met visitor demand, necessitating a doubling of capacity.
  • Environmentally sensitive site demanding careful vegetation and topsoil management
  • New pavements, footpaths and site furniture needed to be integrated sensitively within the existing natural landscape

PROJECT SOLUTION

Roadform completed the upgrade on schedule and without environmental incident, increasing visitor capacity while preserving the natural character of Karijini National Park.
  • Vegetation clearing, topsoil stripping, and bulk earthworks to expand the carpark footprint
  • 5,700m² of new sealed pavements and footpaths, including spray seal surfacing
  • Line marking and installation of site furniture throughout
